Lewis & Clark Literary Review’s forty-ninth issue, bone meal, is a well-edited literary journal with powerful poems and moving prose. Again and again, I checked the contributor’s pages and again and again, I was impressed that most of the pieces throughout the magazine come from Lewis & Clark College’s undergraduate students. I found the organization of the work throughout the collection thoughtful and readable.

Volume 71 of Grub Street is a stunningly realized latest issue from the long-running undergraduate magazine at Towson. Designer Khoi Nguyen—working closely, no doubt, with the long masthead of editors—has created a masterful reading experience across an elegant consistency of contrasting typeface weights, serifs, and colors, and a judicious use of imagery arranged to express, highlight, and display. The combined visual and reading experience feels spontaneously fluid throughout this incredibly lovely volume.
