Senna Heyatawin was born in San Francisco, California and is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Ms. Heyatawin’s poems have been published in journals, magazines and anthologies and have won poetry prizes since the 1980s. Senna Heyatawin received her MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State University. Some of Ms. Heyatawin’s poetry may be found in Red Indian Road West: Native American Poetry from California, an anthology edited by Kurt Schweigman and Lucille Lang Day (2016).

Senna Heyatawin worked with the poet Marilyn McCabe.
