Amalia Melis is a Greek-American writer from New York who lives/writes/plays in Greece. She has published short stories/essays in Guernica and Glimmer Train. She is a freelance writer who has worked as a hard news reporter/feature writer for newspapers, magazines reporting from Greece and the U.S. When facing the blank page, she creates assemblage pieces from discarded metal and wires she finds to tell three-dimensional stories. She has an MA from the New School for Social Research, New York. She created and organizes the Aegean Arts Circle writing workshops held in Andros, Greece for the last 17 years.
